Director Federico Fellinis Orchestra Rehearsal (Prova dOrchestra) was originally made for Italian TV, then given a limited theatrical release in the US. Using a symphony orchestra as a metaphor for Mankind, Fellini explores the various joys, sorrows, frustrations and triumphs of the musicians. The orchestra leader turns out to be God, making one of His rare screen appearances. Running a scant 72 minutes, Orchestra Rehearsal does not fully develop its premise, though individual vignettes are up to Fellinis usual standard. The orchestrations heard throughout were handled by Nino Rota. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
